In recent weeks, we have seen violence escalate across the Middle East, disrupting daily life and Scouting activities in countries across the region. The conflict has led to the tragic loss of life and heightened concerns for the safety and well-being of children, young people, families and communities. World Scouting’s operations have also been directly impacted.

For young people living through these devastating events or watching them unfold in the news, on social media, and in public debate, the experience can be overwhelming and difficult. No matter where you live, the events can trigger feelings of sadness, trauma, and anxiety, while also negatively affecting mental health and well-being.

Conflicts like this highlight why building peace and dialogue truly matters. They also remind us why empowering young people with essential skills such as empathy, leadership, and constructive dialogue can help them cope and respond thoughtfully in uncertain times.

Around the world, local Scout groups play a vital role in helping young people navigate complex realities and experiences by providing safe spaces to express their feelings and explore different perspectives and concerns.
